Ypres WW1 Tour 4th June 2011

Postby greenwoo » Sat Dec 04, 2010 10:57 am

Guys n Gals. Looking at a change from Le Blat for 2011. The idea would be to cruise into France and cut across to Ypres for a bit of a humbling WW1 visit. We'd spend a little time having a run around that area with a spot of lunch and a stop at one of the Cemetaries and then onward to Calais - this would be just a days outing and i'm thinking of a Saturday.
Timing would be similar to before - getting a ferry or chunnel ( whichever seems most popular) around 7.30-8.0 out and 6 ish back.

I want to get an idea of serious interest ahead of talking with 1-2 local clubs over there to see if they'd like to join us.
The date i have in mind is the 4th June which is the weekend AFTER the final bank hol in May. Please pop your name down in you fancy a bit of this.

( edited thx to Ade reminding me about Detling!!)

Trouble is thats only a week or 2 before us Possyites leave on our Alps tour, I think I might be doing some last minute tinkering to make sure my car is all ready for that instead.

Wouldnt mind a late August/September day for something like this but that's obviously miles later

Tony, you have to drive your car as much as possible in the spring / summer months in as many european countries as possible. Thats the law.

You can't miss a run to ypres. WW1 History and all that. Take Toni with you.

Well I quite fancy this even though it is / was a very early start. Assuming the same fine weather is booked then put me down as a possible incl one passenger, Dee. We would prefer the 'headed by Neil' leisurelygroup allowing us to enjoy more of the countryside and longer coffee stops too! Oh, we'll bring our map too to take over when SatNavs failed to take us in the right direction.
