Last year I discovered that my chassis was in need of some extra bracing, I guess 320 bhp is too much for the current design.
Not wanting to be off the road a quick fix was done.
This was a good fix as its held together despite not having access to weld all 4 sides of the tube.
Once home from holiday in Jan I decided that as the weather was crap it was time to do a proper job.
Car stripped it was ready to progress, the plan was to replace the top rail until I found this
Plans have now changed so I called Westfield to enquire about a new chassis. Finally I get a reply this morning. If I part with both arms and legs I can have one in 12 weeks. That's no bloody good!
Plan B sprang into action.
One phone call to an "alternative" company and its GO GO GO.
Valentines evening spent in the workshop stripping it down to the bare chassis and tomorrow I hit the road. Fingers crossed by next weekend i should have something ready to pe powdercoated.
Lets hope so as the weather's on the up and the clocks ticking.

Shame you need a new chassis, but in a way it's good that you are using another company as another Westfield chassis might well break in the same places. Good luck

I'm confused Kenton! I know it doesn't take much!!
Are you getting a custom chassis made or are they repairing the original one?

keep up Neil, he's using Del Boys cut n shut.....
I've said it before, i think some of these companies ought through some toys at us to test, i can't think of many clubs that would have access to as many hardcore testers. In seriousness, i wonder what design went into the LSISS type cars? Did someone look at a Caterham and make a note of the triangulation/chassis and then just kind of replicate.....which also makes me wonder what differences there are side by side between a Caterham Chassis from say 1980 and a one for a 620r?
Anyway, pity your hols got in the way of getting it repaired til now, hope they have a quick turn round for you....oh a race to be back on the road; Kenton Vs Rich.......

Once you settle on a "coffin shaped" body, independent suspension & a steel tube spaceframe, there aren't too many options for showing any design flair. You've already constrained the design down to one ideal solution, so they will all look pretty much the same.
Kenton, the Fury V8s had additional bracing in the chassis, I'll see if I can find some pictures.
