Following on from this great day at Goodwood.
My engine has now gone bang... Very badly.
Part of the clutch basket broke off, went into the cylinder and smashed all big end bearings, ruined the crank completely, a rod and a piston plus the cylinder barrels. To top.ot off they pressure tested the head and it's got a crack in it that can't be reached with a welder.

Let's just say... My kit car days are almost over.
The engine is with Richard Webb at RLM racing to figure out options and costings. I've also contacted holeshot racing for some ideas and he is pointing towards turbo Busa.

Gutted is an understatement. IL be offline for a good few months until I've decided on the course of action.

Oh no :( I'm really sorry to hear that!
Is it possible to find another standard engine? I know a turbo would give more power, but it's going to be seriously expensive. Dropping a motor in from a crashed bike might at least get you going without costing the earth.

Good luck Lee!

The crank alone in my car was 3k. So this is an expensive bill.

The plan is to wait until I meet with Richard and him and his team are going to come up with some ideas. Then il decide. I don't just want to throw in a eBay item have it stripped down and checked then rolling roaded.

Have to way up prices once I know I can make an informed decision.

Really sorry for you, Lee... :?

I get annoyed when my windscreen washer button stops working - can't imagine being in your situation. Hope things improve for you...

That really is poop news mate, you really don’t deserve this!!

Do you know what caused the basket to break?

Hopefully you get an option that works and gets you back on the road soon..

Hi Tony,

The back plate on the basket as standard was prone to failing even in the bike. In a car when dumping the clutch makes it weaker...so my basket had a weld on it to make it stronger but not invincible. Not sure why RLM don't put billet baskets in like Xtreme engines, Holeshot racing or big CC....but mine has failed and cause catastrophic damage. I think it's one of the back plate lips that holds the springs in place.
