What is a Luego Velocity?

Postby Rexholme » Mon Sep 16, 2019 4:16 pm

Noob question. Not familiar with the Luego marque and their models of car, in particular the Velocity.

Can anyone educate me on Luego please? What’s their reputation like and that of the Velocity’s chassis?

They don’t appear to be in business anymore, is that right? What’s getting spares like? Especially panels, rolling chassis bits? Etc.

Thanks

The last I heard were bits can still be got, though they don’t make kits anymore. Velocity is a normal sized 7 replica as opposed to the oversized Viento they made.

Nice tidy car, Sierra running gear, any inline four tends to fit. As ever comes down to build quality at the end of the day. Most parts can be fabricated and generic grp panels can be made to fit.

i have a luego (mine is the solid rear axle version) as far as my research went the firm was set up by the guy who wrote the locost book in the 1st place and went out of business as wouldnt make the kits down to a price.
mine is nicely made(although the powder coating is known to be a bit pants) but welds are good and frame nice and straight.mine has a tuned xflow in it.the panels are available from a firm and most other bits are ford so easy to get.

mine will be for sale once i get a few things finished for the mot now the new engine is in ;)

Yes, “tidy” was my thinking too. Like a bit of k series too.

I’ll be honest, my preference right now is a Striker but these are not something I had considered until I saw this.

By the way, thanks for the reply Scotty. What happened to the old engine? I feel Iike I should know but I have been off the forum for most of 2019 :?

:D old engine is fine its sitting next to it...it was a stock xflow so less fun, unfortunately my boy has decided my"noisey" car is fun to be around and wants to come out with me to race meeting etc and at 4 he dont fit in the seats(and there is lots of shaking heads to my suggestions of kids seats in there) so a new toy must replace it(for now)
