Jay wrote:Rich have you tried using the epoxy primer before you use the powder. Our mate that has got the powder and enamel coating company always uses it and it enables for better preperation, a better finish and last alot longer than when you dont use it. Just a thought

I thought this , i think any powder coated products I bought from a well know car company, let’s say in the Nottingham forest ;) was not primed , is it a norm to not prime ? Is it in the powder coat ?

hmm, my rear wishbones are looking a little crusty

Yes I have been thinking about the comments like this, the cost of cleaning and powder coating on the market place is pretty cheap, the time taken for each item is approx 1 hr, the biggest issue being my compressor that run out of puff after a few seconds and then cannot produce air quicker than I can use it so unless I stop will never reach pressure and cut put/ perform properly ( just need to wait till she out before I buy one from machine mart and sneak it in ).
I have an issue charging a fair ‘’mate rates’’ ( except to Tony ), but sure none of you would want to see me out of pocket for powder and leckie as sure that is soon to rise with the use of the oven, most of us car people would probably like to have a go at it, if you muck the application of the powder off, just blow it off and start again. Sooner or later I need to get back on my car rather than earn a few sheckles doing this for folk. Easy to fall out with mates who think you did a crap job.
I am rarely getting out on runs to exchange goods
So thoughts were if people wanted to have a go at this they could come to my leaky dirty garage ( you have been warned ), practice on scrap metal then clean and do their own coating under my watchfull eye whilst I actually work on my own car and weigh me in for suitable amounts of lecky and powder or bring you own powder, thousand to choose from.
thoughts

I think your doing a cracking job and I don’t think you need to worry if you were to help out others, I do think you should concentrate on your own car as it’s your pride and joy that gives you pleasure, making and doing most of not all your own stuff makes a massive difference

Agree with Rob, Rich. If you opened the door for everyone there would be que to use your powder coating services, but thats not the point is it ? you are doing for your own goal, your car. Well done anyway this has been as is still a good post.

thoughts....as ever generous to a fault with your offers of help, but even if folks make use of the facility whilst you work on your own car/stuff it'll be a distraction. My 2penneth, sort yourself out first.....otherwise you'll be borrowing a certain robin hood again!

Well that's me told !

Did a small repair on the powder coat gun, the trigger was slow to release and wasting powder.
Then prep the rear arch stone guards, made of Ali, although they have been protected all the time I had to remove the coverings and rough the surface ready for coating.
I normally trying to remove these sorts or marks.
Came out nice in the mild texture finish.
