Lateral thinking

Postby greenwoo » Thu Aug 01, 2019 12:28 pm

Pesky wasps nesting somewhere inside either the loft of soffits.....tried the wd40 trick but the path to retreat isn't good from that spot so it was a bit of a half hearted attempt.

Had a cunning plan to stick wasp powder into a knapsack sprayer, but clearly i hadn't thought that through and it didnt work.

I thought about employing a native tribe stylee blow pipe, but figured that 30 cigs a day wouldnt create much .....ommph. Searched my contacts, seems the one category i'm short of ( no pun intended ) is a pygmy with a blow tube, must rectify that. Anyway, whilst pondering and bemoaning the fact that i haven't got a compressor that could create a quick 'puff'.....i spied a fire extinguisher - 1 careful owner, unused, sitting in my office.
Well in fairness, its been there for 10 years, so i probably don't need it - right?

Decide to check that the extinguisher worked - not i hasten to add by starting a fire, merely, pulling the pin and giving it a tickle. Seemed that i'd need to move fast as once i'd broken that seal it seemed to be losing pressure with a steady hiss.

a quicm search revealed some bit sof a gazebo that are due for the dump, perfect for a DIY blow pipe.
Stuffed a bit of leaf down 1 end, poured in wasp powder, aimed it in the right direction near 1 of the entrances to the nest and shoved the nozzle of the extinguisher in the other end.
Puuuuuuuuffffffffffffffff
Not me, the noise the invention made!

Perfect, a hit!
Got a bit cocky and reloaded.....
Puuuuuuuuuffffffff
next target hit.

One more can't hurt - right?
Loaded with double shot, plenty of that 'gear' to sort those little bastards.
Whhhooooooooooooshhhhhhhh ( signifying more than a pooooooooooof )
Target hit, patio hit, me hit.....white powder everywhere, won't be surprised if the drugs squad turn up shortly.
Kind of felt like i'd been part of an explosion at the local flour mill....

Mrs G's comment ( in fairness she's still got poorly vision )....'I doubt that fire extinguisher 'stuff' will kill then, i't';ll just piss them off'
Now i know why she didnt pat me on the back for my ingenuity!

Time will tell whether it worked, and whether using my office extinguisher was 'rash'.....

I have this vision of a white shadow drawing of a man on the floor with footsteps walking away a bit like a drawing round the body in a comedy movie. In fact sounds just like one.
