A bit more progress, have finished the SC manifolds including the blow off valve, on the second attempt!
Oops that’s not going to work!!

Nice bit of welding there chris, doesn’t look complicated at all

Re: Man with spanners - thinks he's a mechanic
A bit more progress, I’ve welded up most of the inlet manifold. Still need to attach a throttle plate, injector bungs, fuel rail mounts and a vacuum take of for the MAP sensor. Was wondering where to place the MAP take off and if I should include a mount for the sensor?

Re: Man with spanners - thinks he's a mechanic
Did some more work, first pie/lobster cut that worked out really well, well apart from my welding!!
So some questions:
1. For the charge cooler what radiator to people use, all the one I can find are far too wide, the usable space is about 350x450mm. I've heard (I think it was Dick) of people using aircon rads, but I've no idea what'll fit and no luck finding any info, so any ideas?
2. Re charge cooler itself, again what are people using, eBay is awash with Chinese ones for £120. There's a PWR one on for £185 but it's had the ends chopped off, which I can replace so am thinking of offering £120 for that but it's more work/time, or do I go for a GPI racing on for £120?
3. Where's the best place for the MAP take off, I'm thinking between 2 and 3 possibly opposite in the runners?
Thoughts please.
Am reaching the "do I complete in time for the Mega tour or back off and try for next year?" Point if I can get the inlet manifold finished in the next couple of weeks I'm going to go for it, so be ready for the plethora of ECU/Wiring questions that will come.
Watching how fast Kenton's put his Westie back together really puts things in perspective!!
Cheers
Chris

Chris best radiators are thin ones so yes an aircon radiator would be ideal or even a heater matrix, but you need to check the size of the feed pipes to them once again its the surface area that counts not how thick they are . You can put them in front of the normal radiator providing you can get it close to it Look at micra or far east cars they seem to use tiny air con rads but remember pipe size. You need something with a min 1/2" pipes . The pump for it needs to be the larger type have a look at heater boost pumps. . If the rad is to big the flow is to fast and wont cool down . The cheap charge cooler from china seem to be ok i have not heard of anyone having a problem with them (kiss of death) Ash had one on his saab . The one on ebay would stay on ebay if it was me . The charge cooler system make no pressure or very little

Thanks Dick,
Re the pump I was thinking of getting this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSCH-HD-PAR ... Sw-ghb5bGJ
With an inline cap for filling etc
Cheers

Hey Chris.
I've got a similar water pump to that for my charge cooler set up. Works fine!
Another smaller option if space is tight... https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Water-Pumps/Bosch-0392023004-Electric-Water-Pump/B00BHKW92Y/
I think this is the same water pump I've got as the main water pump for my 'busa engine and it works at keeping that cool on track!
I'd be tempted to try a cheap Chinese barrel chargecooler. You'll not be running all that much boost so it should have an easy life.
MAP take-off could be anywhere on the plenum I guess, not on a specific runner. I'd think it should be away from the runners. You might want to add a few - you may need to provide MAP pressure readings to the ECU/Map Sensor, a boost gauge, and the fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks Steve, good to know, last thing I want is cooling issues. With that in mind I'm going to make myself a fan shroud, they seem to have quite a dramatic effect on cooling...

Re: Man with spanners - thinks he's a mechanic
Steve my charge cooler radiator is about 1/4" in front of the main car rad and it has never had any problems keeping the engine temp down the amount of heat you make in the charge cooler system is very low and is in form of spikes . You only make heat when you make boost so every gear change is a cooling cycle within the charger cooler its self that passes back into the water. My system runs the pump all the time this is the recommended way second relay on same circuit as fuel pump so if engine running pump runs. I do have a small fan in front of my rad but thats due to the engine im using and outputs it makes. Heat wise im lucky if i see my intake temperature running anymore than 10 deg C above ambient air temperature and thats with the turbo glowing orange.
