I replaced the whining diff on my Seven with a completely different unit, sounded EXACTLY the same! At least I fitted an lsd at the same time 8-)

Got a few things to try.. swap the wheels round so they are in the right direction is a good starting point. Put the old ones back on. Mend the stereo and turn it up. Change the front coil springs, both broken. Add some adjustable camber arms and get it geo,d Last option.. Take the drivers seat out and put it in another car. Other than that it’s perfect

Spent some time at the storage trying to extricate the car a padlock is jammed, gave up after a couple of hours fiddling. Ordered a cordless grinder to sort it out, arrives tomorrow.

Hope to pick up the engines on Tuesday evening and start prepping for a rebuild, should make some good inroads over the bank holiday period, with one commitment on Saturday and then keeping swmbo sweet with a few ciders, I should be able to crack on.

Thumbs up for a cordless grinder - not as fast as the 240v, but why restrict the mayhem to the garage. I've used mine for alsorts. Trampoline to break down at the bottom of the garden? Check.

Yep, that’s what I went for, body only as I’ve a load of 4amp batteries already knocking about. Seems to get good reviews.

Got a 4Ah for mine, but happily runs on the 1.5Ah drill battery too

Picked up the engines this evening, managed to get one stripped and examined.. “slight knock one of the big ends..” add all the others to that list and the mains as well. All shot. Crank fubared. Block good to go with a good honing. Fingers crossed there’s a good crank out of the two left.

A huge thanks to Snodhurst for assistance with the logistics.
