Update on this thread. At Detling I spoke with GPS (Zero kitcar boys) who will provide a crate Zetec 2.0 Blacktop), 45mm Jenvey TB's, injectors and fuel Rail, manufold, linkage and TPS sensor for "£2,200 inc the VAT

Plus

Sump (Raceline or similar)
Alternator Mounting
1.8 Escort Waterpump (runs the otherway round)
Low pressure & high pressure pump, swirlpot, fuel filters
Bellhousing, Type 9 Gearbox (BGH or Quaife)
Waterail (Retro Ford, Raceline Dunnell)

And the list goes on. A blacktop can be had for £200-400 from a breaker or EBay. Jenveys to fit are around £800-£1000 plus the ECU (megasquirt in my case) Wide Band Lamda & loom.

Jeff,
Thats a good list. Is it comprehensive?
If so could you put ballpark costs against them?

I think the idea of Jeffs post was to highlight that by the time you've finished buying all the bits, its really NOT worth it and you can get a second hand black top and save a lot.... ;)

I certainly wouldn't buy a new one. If you have a fuel injection tank with a intank pump you can cut out a lot of cost and complexity. The most expensive part will be the gearbox unless you already have a Type 9 from BGH or Quaife. You will certainly need the water pump & alternator fitting kit, shortened sump, Bellhousing, 1.8 Zetec flywheel (4Kg lighter than 2.0lt), 1.8 CVH starter motor. All of this will not come on a crate Zetec. If Zero Cars are providing all of this with the engine and Fuel Injection it is a bargain......
