Brake shoes

Postby martin.hewes » Wed May 25, 2022 7:44 pm

Just refurbing my escort mk2 9” drum brakes. Embarrassed to say I’ve had the car nearly 25 years and I’ve just learnt that the drum brakes have a leading and trailing shoe. So I understand the concept, leading is in front of the wheel cylinder in direction of rotation. But I’ve got 4 new shoes and I can see the lining is different for each type and the gap between wheel cylinder and lining is either big or small. Which one is which?
