I used to have my trusty old ear defenders with the homemade/diy inserts for the 2 way radios....
but since the next car will be somewhat quieter.....all i should need will be a simple over the head headset....with 1 ear piece/boom/push to talk....
any recommendations from anyone?

ah, thats the sort of thing i want to move away from......really just a lightweight 1 side ear pad - so i can listen to my tunes through the car speakers. ( but thx ).

You might need to think about what to do for an antenna, a lot more steel wrapped around you. I know it's not quite the same but when my mate in his 5 series (not a soft top) tagged along his range was a just few metres...
