Another Winter Upgrade discussion

Postby Wingco » Sat Jan 29, 2022 5:41 pm

Mine will not be that long as It takes me ages to think of what I want to say.
First of all I blame my daughter, got to blame someone :D
My daughter gets married in August and she would like to go to the church in the kit. yep you herd right in the kit. Now I am very proud that she has asked me to drive her they in the car so upgrades are need. The upgrades were always going to be done but not all at one, but hell iv got an excuse now :D
So most of you know my car, Tiger super six 2000 zetec.

The upgrades are as follows.
New axle
New exhaust
a bit of paint work.
New rear lights
So both front and rear wings are at the painters as we speak, should be back next weekend hopefully. New LED rear lights to be fitted as I was finding that the old ones used to protrude to much on the in side that the rear tyre used to scrub the wires. The new light are surface mounted.
Now we all have issues with stone chips on our rear wings, I bought some carbon sheets from carbon mv but these are a poor fit as my wings have a slight step, the carbon wont bend two ways. To this I will use what I can and rap where needed. Also the on the front wings I have mudflaps hanging down, I am going to make these longer so hopefully they will stop a bit more crap hitting the rear wings.
Axle- so I have a Koln axle at the moment and it leaks like a sieve, tried loads of different things but cant seem to solve the problem. Also I cant get an ATB for a Koln, they don't make one for it so another good excuse to get another. New axle bought, this time I got a Atlas axle, this has gone down to road and race and had a ATB fitted and now sits in Tony T shed waiting for him to wave his magic. The axle has been stripped of all old brackets and Tony has made new ones to replace them. We have also done a rear disc conversion to the new axle.
Exhaust System - My engine has been modified to the some of 210 bhp all done by the guys and girl at Snodhurst, this was done last year and I had so much fine in it, its just so quick. I am still running the standard Tiger Zetec exhaust system and to get every last bit of HP out of the engine I really need to change this. The car has been booked in with Simpson exhaust systems for the 19th March for complete new system.
After all this the car will be taken to Snodhurst for the axle to be fitted and the new rear brakes plumbed in, after this it may need a re tune due to the new exhaust system.
Sorry to have rambled on, hope its not to boring.
Will keep you posted and if I get any pictures Ill stick them up.

If you want to get out of it, take her on a Sunday run - that'll make her change her mind :D. If it's raining at the time, all the better...

Sounds great Colin :D

I presume the wedding dress has been chosen to fit the car. I would never have been forgiven if the lace on my daughter's dress had ripped climbing in and out, and I don't have a full cage! Fortunately she chose a Mk 2 Jaguar

Congratulations Colin on the wedding and the modifications. Fingers crossed for some decent weather - is there a plan B?

The only thing I'd do is once everything is finished and there's a few miles on the car is to get it on a rolling road. Make sure every last pony is squeezed out. I had mine done over the summer (twice in the end but that's a different story) and it drives like a different car. In a good way!
