Hi, after a series of technical failures on the way to Stoneleigh (no idea what or how they started), it looks like I'm going to need new piston rings and valve seals and head gasket etc.
I have some of the parts but tbh not the knowledge to do this myself.
Engine is still in the car and I'm stripping bits off the front end to make it easier to get at things.
Interestingly, I can't even pull the ht leads out the rocker cover, they have obviously melted to the spark plug.
Anyone on here have the knowledge / time to help out at all by any chance?
Don't mind talking about remuneration etc.
I't's an MX5 engine, 1999 Mk2 1.8 (non vvt)
Many thanks,
Rich

Re: Engine works
Sadly I have no experience working on MX5 engines so I can't help there, but if you still get no answers, try Locostbuilders.co.uk as they have a dedicated forum there for mx5 based cars so you may find answers there too.
Good luck

Likewise, I don't have experience with that engine, but before you go buying parts for a rebuild, if it is a standard engine, it might be a lot cheaper to buy a working second hand engine.

You might like to try the guys at Snodhurst Chatham. I'm sure that they can help you out and I can't recommend them highly enough.
One is one too many and one too many is never enough.

Re: Engine works
Thanks for the replies.
One problem I have with a 2nd hand engine is I've still no idea what condition it is in and could end up the same way.
If I can rebuild this one then at least I know what's done on it and should give me a little more confidence.
