So after getting the Robin Hood back together after the prop shaft replacement and looking round the car I noticed the massive gap between the fan and the radiator and recall some hot warning signals on the dash whilst sitting in not excessive hot weather at the black wall tunnel, but fine when moving.
Decide to have a go at making a shrould to funnel move of the air from the fan to the rad, should be easier enough for the top section of the fan at least.
So some of the shelving was deployed again and a few measurements taken and transferred with some fixing points identified, cutting, grinding, welding and a bit of satin black to help it blend in nicely.
Someone previous had hacked a bit too much off the fan housing so not exactly a mirror image either side but got to help the situation

Well done Rich. I would have pushed it back in the garage and worried about it in March!

So not posted a lot about the Robin Hood but it been my car of choice when I do get a chance to go out as the Locost still has niggles to sort.
The Robin Hood is far from perfect but always manages to keep going, get me home and bring lots of smiles in the process.
So things to report over the past months include a strange sticking throttle when hot and changing gear the rev seem to raise for a second when the clutch was depressed, initial checks when cold found no issues with either of the twin cables of the linkage, disconnecting a cable but leaving it in place made no difference on the next outing, swapped the situation over just before the recent 10 day tour of Scotland to find that cured it, only for the now confirmed good cable connected to break during an overtake of a caravan on same trip, reconnected the sticking cable to get me back to the hotel only to find it now fine ?
Another temp cable was fitted that evening to replace the broken one with replacing both now on the agenda.
During same trip I suffered a bad scraping noise whilst enjoying one of the many flowing 60 mph single track carriageways (with many passing points) that caused me to pull over to investigate as the others carried on, then returned to find and help me, later continued to a more suitable pathed location and diagnose a rubbing sensor in the propshaft that was removed to ease my concern.
A diversion onto a farmers track by a closed A road resulted in a badly wrecked 1 year old rear tyre but again soon sorted as I always carry a spare and then went in successful search for a new spare tyre for the rest of the trip.
Robin Hood 2Bs seem to suffer with wear on some of the main attachment bolts for the sierra rear suspension system that catch the heads of the bolts on full compression or speed humps so I have had to initially fit some home made replacements and then with some proper bolts with the washer they hold in modified to give it a few more mm clearance above the tarmac (and some spares in the boot )
Car has now gained a couple badges of honour, that being John O Groats and the 2023 rogue runners road trip stickers.
I have also cleaned up the spare wheel carrier and given it a coating of the rust busters epoxy black to help protect it and improve the appearance.

Been quite a while since I updated this thread on activities in and around the Robin Hood, after the Scottish road trip and near fire on my attempted trip to kings Lynn I spent quite some time reworking and putting the original wiring on a diet, then decided to raise the steering wheel resulting in having to fit a removable steering wheel boss so I could get the bonnet up.
I also overhauled and powder coated the brake callipers and some of the suspension parts
First few trips out seemed to run reasonably well, had to leave the car outside the garage for a few weeks under a light cover in storms.
Then car decided not to start unless using loads of easy start and then still not well, days of various testing and trying out replacement parts proved fruitless so I removed and proved the inlet manifolds was fine but convinced me to strip and overhaul the twin 45s that had no reason to untune or go bad whilst not used and stored outside but I already had a service kit so stripped, cleaned and serviced them.
I found nothing actually wrong as suspected as I had already cleaned the jets a few times in the preceding weeks, out with my cheap carb balancer after a bit of u tube watching and they are better but still need another sweep when it eventually stops raining.
It passed its mot recently and after that I decided to dig a bit deeper on a couple issues that I had not found time to sort due to other activities.
The seat runner is always a git to move as I do not think the floor holes are spot on causing it to twist, so the seat is out so I can check the alignment, overhaul the seat frame and also repair and fit in the drivers seat carpet that keeps on riding up. Pics to follow.
