Cobra Roadster seat repair, plus their dark secret exposed

Postby locost220 » Sun Sep 27, 2020 8:48 pm

Back when I was originally building the Locost one of the most popular seats for them and 7 in general was the Cobra roadster due to it narrow width, so that is what we used, over the years since they seem to have developed a reputation for breaking their backs allegedly due to being designed to be against a bulkhead and not on runners like they are in my car.
My first set came and went due to this issue and the present drivers seat going the same way I thought I would have a go at repairing rather than trying to get a new or second hand one and maybe improve the situation at the same time.
The video shows what I have achieved today and more strangly the real reason they break.

That's a good find Rich, can't believe the poor workmanship that they use, so basic but poor quality. The weld and finish will certainly give you a good more few years and it looks so much stronger now.
