Rear brake calipers.

Postby Alex. » Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:35 pm

After my first proper drive in the Avon yesterday, there was a little puddle by the drivers rear wheel. Looking a bit closer, the inside of the tyre and the brake caliper were covered in brake fluid!

Investigating today, it looks like the caliper is leaking from where the handbrake mechanism enters the caliper. After drying the fluid up and pressing the pedal hard, that seems to be the highest wet point.

Is this rebuildable? Or am I better off getting a second hand unit or even a reconditioned unit?

Best to have it reconditioned by a reputable company. I have heard good things about Bigg Red on another forum, but don't have personal experience.
