Radio Cradle

Postby Weathers » Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:38 am

I’ve looked high and low and cannot find a suitable cradle for our 2-way radios. The one I currently have is the sort of thing I’m after (see pics).

I’ve tried googling everything I can think of and no real joy. I want a metal one of possible.

Thanks

Chris

Looks eminently makable, couple of bits of 3mm ali and some pop rivets...
Yes I've been drinking, what of it!!

I bought a case with belt loop and then made a bracket to hook the case onto. Not as neat as a purpose made metal case, but it works well and isolates the radio from some of the vibration.

Yes probably makable. Was just curious as to whether anyone had found one one could purchase. I have a plan b) I just wanted something decent.

Tony Hart designed a 3D printed one - it was very neat, as you'd expect. I did a couple of test prints. I think I owe Nash one. I must remember to try printing a few.

Rubber o-ring used to hold radio in, after it has been slid onto the mounting grooves.

@Tony H: how did you get on with yours?

I thought so Martin, very tidy!

Thanks all. Santa is bringing a 3D printer to the house this year so..... Depending on how tricky it is to use the software I'll put one together to suit the Baofeng radios a lot of us have. I've used mine a lot so have some ideas for a mark II. I have a couple of different Baofeng radios (GT-3TP and UV-5R) so it will be made to fit those.

I'll let you know how it goes.
