Review of Acousta-fil.

My Caterham silencer needed repacking after about five years as the front 1/3 was showing signs of heat and the Goodwood noise meter showed the noise was increasing.

With great difficulty, I repacked the silencer using Acousta-fil. I didn't put the wire wool around the centre tube. After three years, I have had to take the end cap off as my exhaust needs repair.

I was pleased to see the Acousta-fil is lasting much better. My car does have a catalyst, so it may not last as well in cars without.

Useful to know as mine is around 20 years old and has not been touched as far as I know so was planning to open it up and replace the what ever is left of the sound absorbing material

Another thumbs up for acousta-fil. Have it in both my kits now.

Originally tried another cheaper product and after about 18 months noticed exhaust getting noisier and opened up can to find much of the packing material had either disappeared or turned into a solid, brittle mass.
