Come on Kenton, what does that lumbering old V8 westy weigh then?
Hope you get the diff sorted soon.

Bearing in mind i have a screen with all that goes with it, approx 30l of fuel and tools in the boot mine came in at 690kg.
With me in the seat both front corner weights are exactly the same.
Ive yet to test the changes in anger due to nursing it home expecting the rear to seize at any moment but first impressions are good

Can I hastily add that the 690 also wasn’t with you in it

I need to weigh 30ltrs of fuel and subtract it from mine, I’ve also got about 7 Ltrs of oil and I did have a big breakfast just before we arrived

While you're at it, you might as well drain the brake fluid and coolant and weight that, oh - and have a quick colonic

Petrol is lighter than water (floats on top) and water is 1Kg per 1Litre in volume (this is how a Kg is defined, 1Litre of pure water at a certain temp etc). Something like 0.8Kg for each litre is about right.

Pulled the diff out. The central pin had come loose and hit the pinion. It was quite an impact as it pushed the crown wheel into the rear cover.

K, I've got a 3.9 ratio crown and pinion for a sierra diff if it's any use to you?

Good to know that there are some decent suppliers of service out there. I guess we only truly find out how good businesses are when something isn't right and we complain.... then we see exactly how good there are.

Anyway, glad it went well chaps. K - hopefully you'll be back in the saddle before long.
