On the kart chassis they tend to braze a piece of metal over the crack to give it more strength
MkII Marlin Roadster with Ford 2.0L Pinto and Type 9 gearbox. Going for the oily rag restoration look :-)

A bit laterally, there's nothing trying to make it move fore & aft.

Having finished & fitted the cross brace.......

I thought I'd have a go at tacking the chassis crack - which went quite well.....

Then I started having a good look with the mirror & realised the crack has actually totally severed the front cross rail.....
