Re: Project st
And so it begins
Borrowed Matts ecu bike carbs loom to prove the engine.
Carbs, inlet, wiring loom, Me100 but in Me221 case and loom all from Dan St
Wired the Plug and Play loom but
only if your plugs fit though
VVT, crank and coil pack, the only plugs that fitted, the rest had to chop and join the existing plugs
Started the engine, pretty much started on the button.
Petrol leaking out of carbs, fuel feeder pipe and bottom float bowl which matt found dirt on gasket. Emailed Dan ST he said return carbs and he will re check. But not waiting another 10+ days, so matt had a look and managed to stop leak. For carbs that had been set up and ultra super sonic cleaned. You would of thought they would of found the leaks on there test rig. When they set it all up. and you would of thought, they might of cleaned the carbs on the outside as well.
Connected up to laptop to calibrate all the sensors and in the excitement forgot to take a copy of the map and lost the set up. Got a basic St map from MotorSport Electronics.
Had a few coolant, oil leaks, exhaust knocking, and a flat spot after a week of head scratching and fettling by Matt and myself eventually realising not enough air getting into the carbs due to the Bonnet being a bit tight.
So out came the chain saw
Then carefully cut into the airbrushed tiger bonnet
Done some exhaust wrapping
Think I’m nearly there for a proper test run.
Would I buy a complete Dan ST Kit again
Probably not, when your expecting a plug and play tested on a rig and ultra cleaned. Could of got a set off EBay cheaper and taken a chance
Thanks Matt for all your help

Re: Project st
Good write up. Shame he let you down on the carbs, but you'll forget about that once you're out driving

Re: Project st

I had the same Kev, when i bought my set up for my old pinto, carbs were very dirty inside. I ended up taking them to a bike place and had them cleaned and re jetted.I did complain and like you he said send them back, i cant wait that long.
I think what Dan St offer is very good but they need to take a bit more care
Anyway Kev, great project done in a very quick time, will be nice to see how that goes
