Once dry it was easy to scratch with my fingernail so I went looking in the shed for something else.
I fount a bottle of some type of Nitric acid and thought why not.
Panels wiped with a soaked rag and jet washed they have come out ok, not as new but all the old stains have gone. The added bonus was that if were to take up a life of crime I wont need to wear gloves as I could feel the skin on my fingertips go soft and slimy. :o

No wonder SWMBO learned to run faster than you Sweeny, oh I mean Kenton! ;)

On a serious note cleaning scheme has come up well.

Sorry to hi-jack. I have a nosey, Westfield chassis question. I looked at a SEIW today and underneath the cat it had a chassis hoop/loop of some sort about where the transmission tunnel sits.

It was the lowest point on the car, taken a few knocks, scratch, a little misshapen but not too bad.

What is that loop?

I have marked up these pics. I think that’s it.

That’s the lowest part of the underside and its taking the brunt of the speed bumps should a strike happen.

That loop is a brace between both sides of tunnel. There are a few people who have cut it out but its there for a reason. A straight bar would be no good in its place as you need the extra wiggle room to take the engine and box out in one lump. Scrapes on it are normal.

Cheers Kenton.

Tony, does mean an amber flashing light to warn others of ones ar$e is an essential SEIW winter mod?

The only mod required with an amber light is one to tell you when there is no oil pressure.
You know who you are...

Re designed chassis is home. Trial fit of the engine shows it will work having a diagonal tube bracing from top front to bottom rear. Its tight but just enough clearance.
