MNR Vortex RT Hayabusa

Postby leegav » Fri Dec 14, 2018 9:11 pm

So after some deliberation ive specd a new 2019 plate car with marc from MNR.

Decision was either use my ford zetec, cbr1000rr 2016 or source my own Hayabusa.
MNR offer 185bhp at the wheels on a 440kg car with the cbr. They said standard hayabusa is pretty poor despite internet chat myths and they best theyve seen standard at the wheels is 154.
Luckily i had a budget for car build and engine and Marc knows the owner of RLM Racing who just built an engine that will give me 210bhp at the wheels of a 440kg MNR using a hayabusa gen 2 N/A engine. Offered me it for 8k.. got him down to 7.5k. Which brings my whole car project just on budget with the top spec inboard pushrod double adjustable suspension all round. Paddle shift and flat shifter with quaife atb lsd. Every upgrade jas been added and marc said the car is the top spec they offer. :P
Confirmed today, heading up to harrogate on saturday to sign off the build and final spec. Full factory build.

This is going to be a weapon!!!

Its going to be a long 3 months waiting for it.

The spec is every upgrade they offer and i an on keeping the car for the next 10 years at least. Ive had the tiger for 7 years now so think the investement over the 10 years is worth it.

No i dont want a 2nd hand caterham or a westfield as i have no plans to sell it in a few years. I want to spec a car from scratch with every single part chosen to my spec so that i do not want upgrade anything later on.
Be a complete different drive with 210 at wheels compared with the zetec ive got now. The tiger weighs 640  with 205 at the crank.

Build and all related problems to follow on this thread.

You only live once.

bloody hell, that's light.....is that caged and all Lee?
sounds like a fun project - that's a whopping power upgrade from a standard NA 'busa, i knew that lots had turbo'd them, but didn't realise that those sort of numbers could be unleashed without having to go that route.
looking forward to seeing/hearing about the build diary & updates.....

Yes mark thats fully caged.
My guess is it might come slightly more if i have to down spec to get it on budget.
Evwrything they use for upgrades is all in house superlight billet alloy which brings the weight down significantly. Ive seen the standard hayabusa in one that races in the HSA championships and it goes like like stink. Had 5 seconds on me up shelsley walsh and i was on par with a caterham r400.
I just hope when i go up he doesnt down spec the car so much compared to what weve agreed over the phone and on my order list to get me in budget.
The plan is to test it on track with them for a day when complete, after that im going to try and get some sort of warrenty from them too. He seems confident in the cars and they are now that good they are eligible and competative in the 750 serious.
Colour scheme will be black with lots of carbon uogrades and my yellow red stripe design 8-) . and obviosly a very big gay rear wing

Good luck with the build, be interesting to see the numbers when it is all up and running. Going to be a weapon @ 440Kg, there are a few BEC Westfields which are into the 300Kg bracket so something to aim for.

"""""I have found through a contact a perfect engine package please see spec this has all the right internals and parts that will allow future tuning and power upgrades , as is would provide 210+ hp at the wheels and 125-130 ft lbs torque ImageImage

"Spec of engine :-

Generation 2 hayabusa ( stronger gearbox and output shaft )
Arrow 72mm crank
Arrow steel rods
Cosworth pistons
Gas flowed head
ARP head bolts
Adjustable cam sprockets
Suzz38 camshafts
Dry sump kit
All reliability mods
Various twin gps sensor
Billet selector shafts
H/D selector shafts
Billet starter cover

Built by rlm racing who are renound tuners and also Richard who owns it is a friend of mine , its currently available but was inteneded for his own car but a change of race series means he is building himself another so this is available as a cash deal"""""
