Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Could it be due to you leaving it for a day between coats? Normally I would give it about 15/20 mins between coats and not wipe it down between coats either, maybe the stuff your wiping it off with is not evaporating completely before you sprayed?

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
God knows, I leave it a day after painting and wet and dry it with 2000, wipe it off with blue roll, leave it a day and just before painting wiped it down with the same tack rag as I used between 1 and 2 coats.
Not used the prepaint on the arch since it caused the isolator paint to come off and that was not on the top of the wing,
Go figure I did exactly the same with same paint from same mix to the scrap steel and that looks far better but no cigar

No expert in this area other than observing Stu in the spray booth. As Matt said Stu hits the panels with the colour leaving short intervals between coats, time depends on booth temp and hardener quantity I assume but 15 minutes sounds about right. No rubbing down or wiping between coats. Gives it a few days then mops the car if solid colour. Or applys lacquer then mops the car.
Can’t really offer anything else Rich. Give Stu a call, he’s expecting a call if you haven’t done so already.

Well done Rich, you got there after all you attempts, you should never take asking other people for advice as failure, ok failure is a bit to strong because you've work very hard on this, but advice is helpful.
Now you can crack on, fingers crossed for the rest of the build.

Well done for persevering, at least you now know why it was reacting, so hopefully you can stop it happening again.

Well done, that’s looking good. I wouldn’t rush to start flatting down the orange peel as it will settle down a bit as it hardens. If it’s paint that I’ve done I always leave it around a week before messing with it too much

Been doing some fettling on the drivers side panel, getting ready for the etch primer. Also got a cheap buffer to try to tackle the orange peel and crap in the clear of the arch that will be ready for a play at weekend.
