Decided to put the painted axle less halfshaft back in the rear of the car and managed to loosely fit the trailng arms.
Still got to send the rear shocks for an overall, having been under the car for 10 years.
Got the petrol supply and return, plus the brake pipe in the tunnel and brake pipes fitted in the engine bay.
Re-lacquered some of the roll cage ready for storage till the final stages of the re build.

Day off today so put Henry to work helping me on preparing some of the panels for my first ever spraying of primer, which I picked up earlier in the week.
With a bit of luck I will have a go at ‘laying down some paint’ ( getting the jargon in ) soon.

Rear dampers have gone away for a referb having been under the car for 10 years, ( fronts were done a few years ago ), decided I wanted to change the colour of the springs as the coating was starting to flake in places, so I stripped one with a combination of media blaster and Drexel, wire wheel and a few regrets for starting in the first place and decided to try good old fashioned paint stripped and one of my long porting bits, was still a bit of pig but only took 1 hr unlike the 2hrs of the first.
A wipe down with acetone and think the yellow powder coat will go well if I do the fronts the same with the crinkle black bones. Need to make a better job of cleaning the fronts though maybe a soak in something after the stripper.

i admire your tenacity for detail.....although personally, black springs for me all day long as far easier to touch up and won't show aging as much in the future....

Enjoyed the paint / spray booth video Rich. Not at all 'like watching paint dry'!

Do you think the actual final paint will be the same deal as the primer, i.e. thicker consistency requiring more thinners? Or should it be easier like the chassis paint?

Looking forward to seeing what the final colour will be!

I'm sure I couldn't have been bothered to do the springs, that sounds a horrible job.

I like the way you have moved the chassis, so the spraying can continue in the booth at the same time as continuing the build. Go for yellow, you know it makes sense

Did a second coat last night with a bit of the thinners from the chassis paint set and think it made a difference but hard to tell as was the same colour as the primer obviously and with the fading light, definitely did not have as much build up on the nozzle as before.

hoping the further primer coats wil lbe a good test, also the top coat will be thinner by nature so sure it will be all be great

Is there a book on what colour it'll be? My reckoning is fucsha/fusia/fukia pink!
