Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
For sure the photo sequence will let me down, but what they should show is this evening work on the front of the bonnet and the swage line in the nose cone where I am trying to achieve a better fit.
After many layers of glass over the past few days it was finally thick enough above and below to start proper trimming with flap wheel in a grinder and dremel work.
Then a splodge of filler to start to create the front edge.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Been spending the evening getting the bonnet and front roll hoop better.
The short term plan is to put all the side panels on and bolt the scuttle on tight so that I can then place the bonnet on with the fore and aft rubber trim and mark up the positions of the bonnet catches on the side panels and trim the extended front of the bonnet on the swage line on the nosecone.
So have spend a few hours this afternoon on the scuttle.
Firstly stripping it down so that I could start to remove the paint whilst sitting in the sun, then due to the bow in the metal bulkhead and array of holes added over the year I have used the old as a template to make and trial fit a new one.
Smurf time again.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Not exactly out with the lark but managed to prep and seal up the side indicator holes in the scuttle with fibreglass inside after putting some tape on the outside to stop the mesh sagging through the hole, will be ready for a skin of filler on outside.( Putting something new on in place of these).
Refitted the metal bulkhead with the strengthen strip at the bottom and refitted and screwed down the scuttle once I had refitted the side panel, fluted and front suspension panels on both sides..
Going out for the world most expensive cup of tea and family social time and back on it later on

Great work, these temperatures aren't ideal for glass fibre I'm sure
Hope you have a good heater!
