Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
All loaded up for a trip to ME motorsport in Wiltshire tomorrow, was fun and games running round getting the trailer and having push car round and on the trailer as it has decided to not run again.
Hopefully when they look at on Monday they can sort it.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Dropped the car off at ME yesterday, Adam came in special to take delivery only of the car and a quick chat, I have just sent him as requested a mini history of the car and more importantly recent changes and the issues encountered in a hope to sort out the car.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Heard from them after working on the car for a couple of hrs on Monday, they really feel I need to get some TBs suitable for the ST engine rather than Zetex ones that the Webber’s are.
They managed to get a hefty 60 bhp (Sixty ) and really hard to start and troublesome.
Waiting for a quote from them for a complete TB set up, bells and whistles as well, tossed around a few alternative ideas, but won’t decide till I see their quote and raised the daughter piggy bank.
Been back over there today to collect it and now safety back in the garage

Gutted for you Richard, she still looks fantastic, hopefully this is the final hurdle and you will be back on the road soon.

Re: Locost ''Eleanor'' Rebuild
Thats a bummer Rich.
So why do they think that diff TBs would make any difference? I may be off kilter as its ages since we talked about the set up you were going for?
I thought it was the TB's from a Webcon setup, married to a ME/MBE ECU to control the cams - cos if i remember correctly you were doing away with the cams that had been in that one or the system which had effectively deleted the variable timing?
Am curious as to why changing the induction part - (which is presumably what they mean? As in the trumpets, injectors, fuel rail etc?) would make any difference? Surely their/the ECU is just controlling the fuelling?
Wouldn't a cheap/easy way to see whether changing that makes any difference be to put on a standard ST plenum? If the assertion is that the induction is different between a black/silvertop zetec and a zetec ST, then i'd have thought that a bog standard plenum would prove them right/wrong for little cost & effort???
Again I know its waaay pages buried in the pages, but are the cams set up 'spot on' (did they drill into things as far as that?). Sorry if treading ground you've already covered but just seems a strange assertion - that the engine won't run properly without TB' suited for the ST......given that its pretty much the same engine but with the variable timing.
