I was going to say how, but looking at the state of the road and kerb I can see why. I hope the cheaper sump works Tony, keep us informed with your findings. Best of luck hope your back on the road very soon.

Pure stupidity on my part, I suddenly realised the SatNav was saying turn right, I shoul've gone past & turn round, but I though "I can make that" - I couldn't :?

I just went over a low slopeing kerb, but there was a "step" in exactly the right place to take out the corner of the sump. I was considering getting it welded back in, but it's made of "muck metal" just melted down "stuff", so something better is in order I think.

I realised something was amiss & had stopped the car & switched the engine off before I'd gone two hundred steps just as the oil light came on, so HOPEFULLY, no engine damage - but we will find out .......

If its any help, Tiger also do an ally sump that is the same price as the GBS one - I have one but no idea of steel is better than ally?

I guess it is a quick way to do an oil change :D

Ouch, sorry to hear this. I’ve always been astonished by the full price of the Racine sump for what you get, me and Rob had a scholar sump when we had Zetecs that I thought were always better for half the price! Hope the GBS one works ok!

I looked at then, but they'll only do them on an exchange basis & I need one on the car sooner than I could garantee to have it sorted by if I had to get one off e/bay, post it to Scholar etc.

I prefer the idea of a steel one as there should be some give in it - time will tell if I've just wasted £300 though :?

Fingers crossed for you Tony. Up until the incident it had been a cracking route.

Bourton is very picturesque - shame about all the tourists lol.

Good luck getting it sorted ASAP!
