what a great run...all the runners arrived early so we left newlands 5min before the original meet time...great roads , no traffic to speak of and no sump polishers today, :D
tony leading and setting a good pace , so much so that even after the 'tony stop' we arrived 30min earlier than predicted
excellent breakfast (with toast and extra coffee F.O.C. :D )

on the return my sat nav wanted to turn into every side rd on the left ??
having lost the others at a set of lights i had no idea of the route as sat nav had by this time decided not to show any part of the itn...so i set the Snav for home...again arriving 30 min before swmbo expected me..

i shall leave the others to explain what happened next...
photo is at the tony stop.

A great drive on some excellent roads and even the sun came out to play.

Annoyingly, I was hit by a misfire that I thought I'd fixed a few weeks ago. This limited me to 50mph at certain points on the return and, during one of those, I lost everyone.

As I had changed loads of bits trying to cure this misfire, I decided to bite the bullet and change the battery. Stupidly, I chose Halfords in Reading - jees, what a ball-ache that town is; roadworks every 10 feet, pedestrian crossings every other 10 feet - it took me 40 mins to get out of there! And the battery made no difference - sneakily took it back to my local Halfords on my return.

Otherwise, an enjoyable day out in a very pretty part of the country - many thanks to Graham for the route.

Fortunatly There is now an alternative to the silly - expensive Raceline sump

Kit Spares have done what I would've thought was the obvious thing & made a lighter-than-Raceline sheet steel sump, so it's much more likely to bend rather than break (though to be honest I think I would've broken it today). At 1/2 the price of a Raceline sump it's got to be worth a try.
