Re: Sunday 8th October
The weather was perfect this morning, it was hard to believe it was October driving in shorts and a fleece. I was a bit chilly before the sun came up, but from there on, it was great.
I saw a huge deer in the road near Uckfield, but avoided it by a good margin so phew!
Mark, Kenton, Tony and Barry were already at the start and I was in good time. Soon we heard Steve's Hyabusa screaming up and we could go dead on 7.
We headed up to Hever and onto Bough Beech where embarrassingly I turned the wrong way on my own route
After a few minutes I realised and decided I would have to cut a couple of waypoints if I was to have any chance of seeing the others again.
On to Penshurst where the road was shut (really shut!) my satnav took me around, and soon I was heading to Groombridge to try some new roads via Eridge to Rotherfield. Very little traffic and decent surfaces meant good progress to Mark Cross. On to Stonegate and towards Burwash and I got caught behind a car, soon there were five Westfields in my mirrors.
The remaining roads we have done quite a few times, we had a little traffic, but all arrived at breakfast quite close together.
Matt soon joined us in his Spartan which I haven't seen for years. Good to see her looking in pretty good condition.
A good chat including discussion on the new radio replacement set up, suffice to say it wasn't a success and that was it. Thanks for everyone who came.
