27th May race day lydden hill

Race day is nearly here for the miniRods 73 and 93
27May at lydden Hill 3pm - 6pm

Added new racing stripes after the rebuild to make it stand out more
As there is 4 black miniRods racing
They’ve decided to split the minis into 2 groups which has split our 2 minis, which might help me get some points

This meeting is hopefully going to go ok but who knows as I've changed quite a bit on the car. Its had a freshly rebuilt engine and the rear suspension arms replaced for the lighter ones from a newer mini which also gives me adjustable camber aswell as tracking on the rear. So I'll be running the new engine in ( it might get the 2 warm up laps if its lucky ) and testing out the way I've setup the rear end so it could get interesting . I have considered doing the track day in the morning but then if it all goes wrong it could mess up my racing in the afternoon so I think I'll just wait for the main event.

So after the upgrades I gave the engine a good chance to run in (2 warm up laps ) then floored it. Managed to get 2nd in the first heat, 3rd in the second heat and finally managed to get the win in the final, the first one in the Minirod since I’ve been racing it, so well happy with it. I’ll post up the videos in the next day or so

Good day racing
Heat 1
Pete span in front of me so slowed me down, so played catch up , ended up 4th
Heat 2
Tyres were going off couldn’t get the grip down but still ended up 5th
Final
Changed to some old 15” to give me some more revs
Good race but had 2 cars battling struggled to get around so ended up 4th

Good photos. You're obviously on the pace with the new car Kev, maybe that's why Matt needed a new engine and trick rear suspension

It must be nice to have a weekend without problems.
