Re: Castle Coombe Action Day 22nd July
Spent the last few hours working on the exhaust box, thought i might as well try to do a proper job and sort the wadding out as has caused me to fail noise testing at castle coombe and Brands, finally worked out how to get it apart, the broken section giving me access to drive the middle tube out once i had unwelded the other end that i did when it defeated me about 7 years ago. There was actually quite a lot of wadding left in there so maybe the box is just to small. Had to do a bit of cutting and shutting to re-establish he removable section for next time.
Then on the front end where it sheared off i managed to unweld the inserted bit and with a piece reclaimed from an old box put in a new bit and weld onto to original section.
Bit more blending into to do and going to order some decent wadding.
With all the soot i resembled a chimney sweep but the time i had finished.
Rich.

Good find T. That was a hot mini with something funky under the bonnet by the sound of it and on slicks!? Just read the YouTube description. He was running a bussa and RWD. That explains a lot I I feel less bad now.
A royal pain in the bum so I let him pass as he was getting wreakless. Quick motor mind in a straight line and given I had a passenger on board I wasn't about to be stupid.

Re: Castle Coombe Action Day 22nd July
Great day out - thanks to Neil for organising and sorting the free entry passes.
Saturday early morning saw me checking the weather forecast and procrastinating profusely about the benefit of actually going VS just staying in bed. I decided to go for it and left 30 mins later than planned so had to 'push on' a bit. I arrived at the breakfast meet 15 mins late and found everyone else already tucking in. Still managed to wolf down a nice Full English before we set off on the short drive to Castle Combe circuit - thanks for waiting chaps.
On arrival I made a dash to the Noise Test area and got my ticket with a 97dB result (100 dB limit), then on to book on to the 'kit car' track session at 10:45 which Neil and Tony were already booked on. Then the heavens opened!
Luckily, the track sessions were running behind schedule and our 10:45 sesh didn't actually get out until well after 11:15, by which time the rain had stopped. Plenty slippery enough though, with puddles & standing water in places. Great fun though, very twitchy!
Did a second track sesh at 12:45 (again with Neil). This time it was pretty much dry and the car felt good. Spitting a few flames apparently.
On the SKCC stand Crunchie's car was of course attracting a fair bit of attention. (What did it get at noise test BTW Paul?) There was not much in the way of trade stands - and nothing that tempted me to part with any cash.
I got totally soaked on the M4 on the way home! Must find a better drainage solution in my seat base. I had to stop and bail out when the water reached the height of the back of my trousers and starts trickling down my ar$e crack

gasKings the vlogger was apparently at Coombe on Saturday. I did see the camera man on the gimbal but didn't make a connection. Anyway here is the video. I'm in it for a second at 3:24 and tenpins fake California is featured ( the blue one)
