Just to warn you, we went to Duxford last year a week before the Flying legends show. There were large signs up on the M11 warning of delays and suggesting avoiding the area the next weekend. There were also notices suggesting people should try and avoid arriving by car. My daughter had wanted to go to the show but it was booked up too far in advance for us to get in.

Anyone recommend a good breakfast meet somewhere between Hatfield & Harlow? Makes sense to have a meet point north of the M25

[quote="steve m"]Once we have dates arranged etc, I will try and get a pass for us to visit the ARC, Aircraft restoration company, they have the first hanger or last depending how you view Duxford, and some fancy stuff in there, I also know a good few of the Pilots that fly for them,
steve

I'm thinking of sorting out a blatt to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford Http://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford

Duxford is a huge site based on the old Battle of Britain aerodrome, it's also an active airfield & home to a number of airworthy "warbirds". There's a huge amount to see & usually something going on in the restoration hangers where they take Spitfires & the like apart re-build them. Distance wise it's about 1 Hr 50 from Guildford / Newlands, going north, so the Men Of Kent can pass east of London, others to the west & collect for breakfast.

So, anyone for Duxford? To avoid crowds & traffic we'd need to avoid these dates:-
Duxford Air Festival - Sat 27 May 17 – Sun 28 May 17
Flying Legends Air Show 2017 - Sat 8 July 17 – Sun 9 July 17
Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show - Sat 23 Sept – Sun 24 Sept 17

As there's a fair bit already in the calendar for the summer, I'm thinking maybe an early trip - 19th March?

This one looks OK, right next to a petrol Stn, & in about the right place, not sure about the name though :D :-

ChrisL: As I live up this way, do you want to let me check the route from breakfast?
