Obviously, I will pay as well. I did wonder if they might get up to something like this. It seemed to be chaos at the Premier Inns but fine at the other hotels.

Would it be worth talking to your credit card co and telling them what the premier inn agreed and that they have now charged you without permission after agreeing they wouldn't do it. The credit card co would then look into it for you and hopefully get you the refund.
But of course I'm also willing to chip in

Actually that's a really good idea. Credit card purchases over £100 have some degree of protection don't they. Premier Inn do have a record of agreeing not to charge you, so that's something for the card company to get their teeth into.

Sometimes farmers and sheep are not so bad. Had a similar experience last year in the borders on this long straight. Camera van around the bend.
