What took you so long??

My detour takes us up (or possibly down) the "Electric Brea"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Brae

I've driven up (down) it before & it's pretty weird, but Youtube is awash with eejits getting out of their cars to watch them rolling uphill, so watch out for them.

Okay so I need to order a radio then!

Presume it's easy enough to set up; this one will do right? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151525555316

That's quite a detour to get over to Ayrshire from the M74 although there are some great routes to get there.

I'm no expert - really REALLY no expert, but mine has UV-5R on the front & that says UV-5RL, don't know if the L is significant. Other than that I paid about that from a UK supplier & got the same package, radio, headset, charger, CD & lead. There's instructions on setting it up here or hereabouts:-

I got mine to set up pretty easily after I gave up trying to understand what was going on & just followed Russ' instructions TO THE LETTER

If nothing else they'll be useful for calling out fuel stops, cafes, & warnings of sheep & camera vans

It is - but the route I was given went a long way west of the M74. The detour adds about 19 miles, so isn't to bad & it takes in Nardinis in Largs & the old Largs road over the moor to Greenock too - all haunts of my youth it'll be good to see again.

Thanks! Will have a look for one in the UK and then I can follow Russ' instructions to get it set up...I wonder how big an aerial I can fit to the roll cage ;)

Cheers,

Nardinis hasn't changed in years, which is why it is so appealing and of course the ice cream is superb. Largs can be VERY busy on a good sunny day and car parking can get tricky. There is a large public one right across the road from Nadinis but it fills up quickly.

How old are you Tony?
