@chris
For an example, 1 degree higher in the ocean and it’s a disaster, I think there experiencing 40+ temps
Add a loud peddle (well a small loud peddle ) in both cars, not enough cooling = meltdown

Another cracking day draws to an end and we’re currently very close to lake constance in Germany after spending most of the day playing on Italy and Austria.
The cars are still throwing their toys out, Ks had a misfire all day and we eventually discovered one of his spark plug leads was melted and I am having serious issues with 2nd gear!!
Due to an early start this morning we managed to get ahead of schedule and now only have about 500 miles to Calais to meet our train on Friday evening.
Only downside with the trip is paying a fortune to sleep in a shed last night and because K refused to put up his tent we have paid another fortune to sleep in a barrel tonight!!!!

What a day.
Up at the crack of dawn, knocked off 150 miles of mountain twisties, inuding several passes all before breakfast. It really pays to do this as we had the roads to ourselves.
At times the under bonnet heat when hammering up a pass has boiled the brake fluid so I've had to pump the pedal to get any brakes. Its ok on the downhill thankfully. Overall this years trip has been the most traffic free and apart from electrical issues stress free.

Great write up guy's and some brilliant photos. Shame about all your issues, you wouldn't have thought that of a well built westy.
Safe journey home chapps

Yet again it sounds like a good day and some cracking pictures. Definitely would have made ye olde calendar if it still existed!
So what can you do to prevent this happening next time then chaps? Bonnets with more holes than a tea bag?
Also Tony B - out of interest can you drive around a knackered gear with a BEC? You can obviously shift 1-3 in a normal car - can you dip the clutch and upshift twice?
It's a b*gger that it's 2nd gear - you must use that quite a bit on the twisties.
Good luck getting home gentlemen.......
