Oh dear, it’s almost 12 here and this has been the situation since 9.30.

K’s car stopped unexpectedly but luckily the local police stopped to help push him to safety, only to then discover that the police had checked our cars and found that K had gone through a camera 2 years go and hadn’t paid the fine - so, 40 euros later...

Anyway, we think it’s the coil, but we also think the fans knackered too - to be continued

Ha ha you can’t escape them by leaving the country then.... lucky they hadn’t added interest!!!!

40 Euros isn't too bad at all for a 2 year old fine. In France that'd be far higher!

Good luck sorting K's car. Does it run at all then, or nothing?

Well, we think we have traced it to the coil as we discovered it was arcing and a new one should be with us within the hour, there was also a burnt out relay and the wire feeding the fan was shorting somewhere so we’ve bypassed it with a new temp wire (honestly I haven’t touched the wiring)

This is the current state of play, going back together ready for the new coil - fingers crossed, if it isn’t that it might all be over

Might also be worth double checking the HT leads for meltdown, breakages, etc if you haven’t done so already. This can cause the arcing at the coil packs as the current has to go somewhere.

What a day. Not one I'd want to repeat in a hurry.
Coil replaced, wiring to fan bypassed. We are now almost where we should be. Time for car 2 to throw a hissy fit.
