Thanks David - if you don't mind, I'll take the risk and leave it until the day - still many chances for things to not work, with my luck recently :roll:

I'll be cancelling a room this evening (last day for free cancellation) so there should be one room free.

Just remembered a news article from the summer about speed limits in France. Roads without a central reservation have been reduced from 90 to 80km/h. So be careful.
