Dolomites for 2

Postby leegav » Wed May 16, 2018 7:12 am

This year i have decided to visit the dolomites with the mrs instead of the usual gang.
No other reason than fancied sharing and introducing these amazing trips and scenery to someone else who would really appreciate it.

The plan is to wait until a week or two before our booked tunnel date of 28th july and decide wetger its the dolomites or swiz alps based on weather reports. The route we will take is ITNs from previous years trips. We are going to plan one or two hotels but mostly just live on the fly for tge 10 days weve booked off.
Had a little worry about luggage and tools but ive come up with a plan, and once its on the car il post up some pics. Im going to attach some exhaust clamps to a aero dynamic roof box and attach it to the roll cage. Will probably make some counter plates to add a bit of strengtg but in theory this should work. The clamps fit the roll bar and the box can be drilled easily.
Thw good thing is my mrs doesnt mind a bit of real blatting, so wont get told off for planting my left foot.

Will keep updating this post as we go along and during the trip too. 8-) :D

Well guys...now shelsley is done its time to get the car prepped for the dolomites. Seats back in and need to look at sorting a tonneau half cover for passenger side.. I forgot my drivers side one last year and got bloody drenched when it rained. So next move on the car is fit a roof box and seat back in then tonneau cover.
Ive booked the chunnel and first nights hotel in an F1 and 2nd nights camping..
Throwing this out there but if anyone wants to come along dates are tunnel 20th and back 27th. Plan is the dolomites but if the weather is hurrendous then we will head east into the alps. Probs camp if the weathers nice or cheap hotels if weather not great. Just me and her indoors going...she wants to have some "looking round" time so will be a relaxed trip .

48 hours to go and its all packed apart from my clothes... All tools, camping gear.. Spares... Fuel cans all fot in with no issues.
The roofbox goes on great too really easy.. I picked this up as a freeby, drilled holes in it and clamped it with 5 exhaust clamps to the roll bar.its solid.
If i bought a black decent one a bit smaller it would actually look pretty slick!!!
Im getting excited.... 8-) :D
So is Laura.. Her first trip out there... :D
