I would obtain a mini log book and drive it on that
As that is exactly what people did years ago with kit cars

It has not been registered as it’s not fully built. I have the documents from the donor car, but it wouldn’t be legal and any decent MOT tester wouldn’t pass it. There was an exemption years ago for people to update old log books, but that time has gone.

Some years ago (OK many years ago) a friend of my brother's built a hot rod. At the time you got an old "book" log book from the '30s which just had a description like "black saloon", asked the DVLA for a V5 as you were "restoring it", then changed engine size, colour etc to suit.

There were people who could supply these log books for the right price, so the guy bought one & it duly arrived - complete with tax disc & MoT cert!!

Lets be clear here, at that moment in time there was no car - but there was a tax disc & MoT  .

He wisely didn't ask how it could happen.

I'm not an IVA expert (mine was one of the last through SVA) but there's nothing obvious in the shape that'll fail it. The seat belt anchorages have to be in the right place, but a roll bar should sort that out. Internal projections can usually be covered over with panelling or carpet (look at the steering column & the area under the dash) the dash lower edge will need a 19mm (I think) rad, so either formed aluminium or a PVC drain pipe screwed on & upholstered. There is a clause in the IVA that says anything done to cover edges must be similar to what a manufacturer would do - so no tyrapping on lumps of foam.

You'll need a padded steering wheel. There is a zone on the dash where pointy things are allowed. On mine I made a ply dash with a rad on the bottom, covered in thin packaging foam & cheap vinyl with all the switches & instruments in the safe zone the far side of a Sierra wheel. After SVA, the wheel was swapped for a small one & the dash became the template for the one I wanted.

As has been said, read the IVA manual & plan ahead.
