IF I pass the IVA test (2nd attempt) what next??

Postby AshleyO » Wed Jun 10, 2015 10:04 am

Car finally seen the light of day from three different garages. (Late) father, family friend and me and 13 years!!! Transposed from SVA to IVA and after a first IVA non-pass (I wont use the word "fail"!) we are down to just a handful of minor points to resolve, and then back to the IVA people.

Ford Sierra Sapphire base, Rover 3.9 V8 engine and gearbox

What happens when you have the IVA certificate regarding registration?? I do have the old V5 from the Sierra

Herewith some kitcar porn for you, car on its way back to the guy that built the wiring loom, for a couple of tweaks:

It's a few years since mine (2009), but DVLA are basically interested in proving it's a proper home-built car. So collect a pack with all the receipts you can (make sure one for the engine is easy to find) photos of it in build. Don't know what you do about inspection, there were LVLOs when I did mine.

They will take the IVA pass off you & you won't get it back, so scan it if you want to keep a copy. After the paperwork is squared away you get a form entitling you to buy No. plates for it & you're away

V55-5 and V627-1. PM me your e-mail address for examples and whilst the forms have changed, the content has not.

Keep a copy of the IVA Pass Certificate (IAC) that is issued as that is nice to keep and the DVLA take it.

I assume you filled in your amateur build form with photos when applying for the IVA
Richard.
Dax Rush 5.0l TVR V8, EFI with Megasquirt ECU and wasted spark, Racelogic Traction Control, Quaife LSD. Now with big brother 1973 TR6 being totally body-off restored.

They take the IVA certification off you. I'm glad I took a colour copy of mine beforehand.

PS car looks really nice.

What's with the local DVLA offices. Can you walk in there and submit the papers (for them to check)?

Does this speed up the process or do they still need to go all the way to Swansea Central?

I think all the local DVLA offices shut a couple of years ago. It is all done direct with the DVLA now.

yes its all done direct now, you might have to also enclose the VED duty also, does it say anything about that on the forms, as i asume it will not be on an historic tax group , prehaps a check of the lastest forms , they are all on line now, may help.
