Pinto Engine
So the strip down of my Midtec Spyder is progressing well, although cold weather may delay me for a month or two! Question is does anyone know if the 2 ltr Pinto (205 block) has the same mounting points for engine mounts and also gearbox etc as the 1.6 version? I am in two minds as to rebuild the 1.6 or go for a 205 block and rebuild that instead. TIA

Re: Pinto Engine
Straight swap, spend your money and time on the 205.

Re: Pinto Engine
I was going to add, that its a straight swop and don't waste time on the 1600 block, but beaten to it!
1600 pintos were not very good

Re: Pinto Engine
Someone may know if this is true or not, but I was looking at getting a replacement Pinto for my Spyder and came across a site that mentioned that the Zetec series of engines has the same bolt pattern as the Pinto for connecting to the gearbox. Is this true, because if so it open ups the possibility of getting a 2.0l Zetec engine instead of a now quite rare 205 block Pinto. Just a thought.

Re: Pinto Engine
Yes same bolt pattern, but be aware that you will need other bits to run the zetec that might cost as much and more than the 205.
