Locust 7

Postby Wingco » Sat Aug 07, 2021 4:00 pm

Not in the same league as Mike or Chris and not trying to steel there thunder.

A customer at work is selling his Locust 7 so I thought I would stick it up here. All I can say is this is a very highly well built car, it wants for nothing, the guy is so finicky about detail so this is a very nice bit of kit. Below is his write up, it also has his phone number on the bottom.

I'm looking for a new home for my much loved Locust 7.
It's based on a 1977 Mk2 1600 Escort Ghia & was granted the donor vehicles registration number when inspected by the DVLA around April 1997 at Maidstone.
So it has the correct registration documents for a 1977 Ford based Locust.
I fitted a new battery 3 weeks ago & I'll be selling it with a new MOT.

It has a ford 711 1650cc cross flow engine with a pair of weber DCOE 40s, GT head, kent cam & ford electronic ignition.
I also built it with a ford type 9 five speed gearbox along with a lightened flywheel & a Sierra clutch.
It has a Westfield stainless steel exhaust system including their lovely four branch manifold.
It's also fitted with a dual circuit remote brake servo.
It has adjustable coilover suspension and nice set of 5 minilite "looking" wheels with almost unused Avon tyres.
It has a Smith's heater that burns your legs when the roof is up & a pair of Caterham 7 seats along with a momo leather steering wheel.
