Sierra Diff 3.92 lsd sid viscous

Postby greenwoo » Thu Oct 04, 2018 4:07 pm

as it says on the tin.....3.92 sierra viscous lsd, bolt in flanges...was overhauled by Phil at Road & Race about 16 mths ago....

to be clear that's a complete diff unit ready to rock n roll.
£375.

Or if you fancy a plate diff....
3j plate slipper unit which would need to be put into a diff of your choice. new these are about £775....
£400 2nd hand.....owned from new and checked out by 3J themselves 12mths ago when stripped out of the car.

offering these here first ahead of wider 'marketing'.....

My car has got push in shafts with drum brakes on the rear can I just change the shafts over or will I have to upgrade the whole back end?

sorry Matt, that's above my paygrade....not sure whether you can just change to bolt in shafts...guessing that question has probably been covered before on locost or the mighty google....

The minimum would be bolt on shafts with matching stub axles. Not sure of the hubs are the same. One option could be new hubs as well with Sierra discs and brake callipers.

The other option could be a pair of “hybrid” shafts.
Power.. small nail, fast hammer, Torque.. small nail, big hammer.. I got a big hammer :P

@ Matt....am assuming (?) that you're interested in the sierra lsd?
if so a search on locost brought this up....

So you want to keep the drums? When I changed from a 3.62 open push in diff to a 3.92 viscous LSD with bolt on shafts I just cut the disc flanges off the bearing carriers and carried on with my 10 inch drums.

same thing mentioned in this thread partway down the page....
