I get this quite often lately, ever since the site wasn't available about a week ago (maybe two?):

....and me.... just clicked Sumit on another post and, I thought, that's spooky, just seen that somewhere else. Did a refresh (F5), and all returned to normal. First time it's happened to me.

yep , thx folks, you're basically telling me stuff that i have seen as well.
the issue started after i updated the forum version to the latest release.
i'm in no mans land because according to umpteen pages on forums answering this question it apparently is likely to be a problem with the hosting service - however having asked them, they are adamant that its not their issue but one of high usage on a shared server.
looking at the mysql d/base it seems that there are various 'errors' that may be contributing to their perception of high usage......

going to take a while to resolve this one i fear!

if anyoen has any ideas about this type of problem do shout out!

Well, the usage before the update must have been more or less the same, and I never ever got that error. So the new update must be more 'sensitive' to it? That's where I stop, because I actually know exactly nothing about the Internet. It's all magic.

Things I'd looks at db / connection timeouts, thread limits, process limits etc on db, any disk issues, how bigs the db does it need re-indexing / optimising, what OS are you using as there may be ways of limiting connections / threads in it

Is it limited to just one browser?

I got the error with Chrome.

i 'think' this is the area that's causing the grief...
in the db obviously there are tables are it seems that there are recurring errors, by recurring i mean that if i hit the 'repair/fix now' button the db cleans itself up, on a temp basis but within a short time period this warning message comes back.
''warning : 97 clients are using or haven't closed the table properly''

not being proficient myself i can only guess that these tables that arent closing automatically are therefore looking to the hosts servers like there is a heap of activity, when in reality its a problem that is just being compounded as each member surfs and presumably yet another 'table' is left open.

i disappeared up my backside yesterday trying to figure this out......willl have another look later if i get a chance ( and David, i dont thinbk it matters what browser is being used - i'm on ffox fwiw, but i think these symptons will mean that everyone is similarly affectec. the warning will only come once a threshold with the server is passed, i gather that the server likely recalculates usage hourly......so towards the end of that period is probably when we max it out - as far as it is concerned).
