Sound Mirrors

Postby b33fy » Sun Sep 22, 2019 6:06 pm

Had an opportunity to visit the sound mirrors used between the wars and the precursor to todays radar. Usually very limited public access, Caught up with Mark at the Oasis for a full english.. be rude not to.. and headed along to grab a few shots.

Not a huge amount Kev, quality, sharpness, focus is improved. Quicker frames per second, 10fps so more likely to catch that moment.

Auto focus is quicker and tracks better which is helpful for the motorsports, rugby shots. Other camera took a good shot, just a bit easier with this one.

More mega pixels so you can crop heavier and not loose quality

A couple from the rugby Saturday, with minor cropping. Focus is spot on.

trying to carve time to sift through my pic's, on the whole was a bit of fun, but the subject matter was tough.

Agree Mark, it was a nice opportunity to see some history, though arguably standing on top of the lighthouse with some bino’s was just as effective   On the whole, lumps of concrete are generally not that inspiring..

Actually that’s not a bad effort Kev.. panning looks in tune with the car. There are some tricks to help “loose” a fence you can use with a more adjustable camera.

I don't know about you Mike, but i thought that these were tough to capture. I like the last one you posted up, kind of harking back to their origins timewise etc.

I tried a couple of shots of the lichen on the concrete etc, but I guess i just don't really 'get' that style, also tried a few bits/isolated parts of the structures - but that didnt do it for me either!

Finally had a play around last night and tweaked a few that did look 'ok' to my eye/taste. 1 more heavily tweaked than normal - albeit I like the effect.
