mm managed to finally get the pic's off the cameras...as i suspected nowt that hits the spot, well not in the same way that you managed to capture them Mike. Then again, in retrospect wrong tool for that job, unfamiliar controls...shouldn't have been shocked.
No wonder i gave up the guitar after 2 lessons without being able to wield the 'axe' like Clapton...kind of have high expectations ( unrealistic ones).
anyway, i can live with these as a memento of the day. Pity that i was trying to be sneaky with the candid shot instead of setting it up.

Re: BSB Practice Brands Hatch
Last shot is there Mark. Focus is spot on, nice pan. I tried some shots with a compact a few years ago, got three out of three hundred shots, one below, didn’t bother after that.
Looking around yesterday, weapon of choice is a DSLR, there was a mix of cropped and full frame cameras, bloke next to me was machine gunning with a 1dx (14 frames per second) hate to have to sort that lot out!
Glass is everything, better to go for cheaper body and better lens. I’ve a enthusiasts/semi pro body , as mentioned before, a pro lens, 70 - 300 l series zoom. Brand new at RRP, around £2100. I like a bargain and am happy to take a risk, second hand lens, grey market body, £1100. Completing the man maths.. £500 back for my not so old camera.. £600 total, bargain!
The good thing about dslr’s, Canon, Nikon, to a lesser extend Sony, there is a thriving secondhand market, so you can get kitted out quite reasonably. Also good condition gear holds a reasonable value when it comes to upgrading.

Done the rest, won't bore you with loads, "three of each" so to speak.

Re: BSB Practice Brands Hatch
ha ha, yep i've done the man maths too...and know the cam that i'd like, want to stay with Panasonic as i understand the menu system and controls ( in general) and the g9 has great reviews. Cost of the lenses is an issue, but a bigger one is understanding/knowing which i'd need/use. Can adapt Canon lens etc to fit the g9, but the idea of the 4/3 cams is size/portability - don't want to splash a load on a 1 trick pony that is great but doesnt get taken out too often.
Took the new one yesterday to take paddock pics, which was a no go as couldnt get in without a pass, so decided to use it at Druids to see how/whether its range would work to give me a clue....and to get some hands on use/practice with it in general.
Pleased with it overall, it can crank out 11fps raw on high burst, has a fast lens and has same focusing system as the g9 but really bought it to be able to pop in a jacket pocket to take more everyday snaps.
Will try to get to Brands on the 27th and take a hop up and see what i can get with the other one...
(like the sidecar stylee)
