Green Laning Salisbury Plain

Postby SJLB » Thu Jul 05, 2018 7:38 pm

:D :D :D :D :D
Had a great day today green laning on a Honda off road bike for 70 miles. I went down to Salisbury Pain last night after work and stayed in a country pub and had a few beers then headed to Melkesham this morning where a guy organises these tours, he hires out 250cc Hondas and any gear that you might need, a pub lunch and a full day out on the bikes.
After a quick how-to lesson in off-roading we were off, the guide, myself and two others - none of us had met before. After about an hour we stopped for a welcome water break and that's when I admitted I hadn't ridden a bike for the last 18 years, it wasn't an issue though, after the first hour I was fairly comfortable. During the next hour or so I did come off three times though, it was then that we found I had a front puncture, the guide had a hand pump which got us to the lunch break where a new inner tube was fitted and the bike felt much better, I only came off once in the afternoon! The other two guys came off worse though, one came off and winded himself and bruised his ribs and had to get some pain killers from the pub and the other guy trapped his little finger when he came off and thinks he might have broken it.
Some pics so you know it happened...

looks good(got a link to the organiser?) i would of carried on off roading if there were more places like the plain but theres to many idiots about getting the lanes closed every where else.i have done night events down there when its been closed with bikes and 4x4s all going flat out...some of the best experiences ever.

Looks fun Steve! I did a similar experience day on the Green Lanes around Dorking with these guys http://www.offthekerbtrailriding.co.uk/.
Loved it so much that I bought a little Honda CRF250L last year and did quite a bit of riding the Surrey and Hampshire green lanes - there really is quite a lot that you CAN ride and weekly rideouts organised via the TRF forum. Fantastic fun and the bikes sip just a few £'s of fuel for a days fun.

Anyone else got a green lane bike?
