I heard recently about a satellite issue tgat might affect old Tomtoms. I checked my XL routes and it said Ok, no need for an update.
Today, I planned my usual cross country route to Snodhurst for my MOT and headed off.
First I noticed it wasn't showing the current time or an eta. The route looked ok and it was counting down the mileage, so it seemed ok. However, once I passed the first waypoint, it told me to turn around. I kept marking waypoints visited, but every time it was soon saying turn round.
In the end, I marked all but the destination visited and it then gave me a route and worked ok.
Same thing on the way home
So it seems my Tomtom will plan a route using itns, but I can't use the route without having to delete waypoints.
It seems it is time for a new Satnav. What do you recommend? I have been pleased with Tomtom, but would consider other makes. I thought about getting the Rider but the price has gone up a lot!

I bought a tt
Go620 from tt offer at £187.so did roger.
It takes gpx files not itn files.
I think tony h & linda also have new 'go' versions

Re: My Tomtom has lost the plot!
I'm mean, so bought last year's model GO5200, it has a sim card so gets traffic info free & map updates are free. It sits in a magnetic dock (which has a power wire) so there's no wire going to it (though there is a port should you wish to run it wired), the docks are expensive (£35) if you want one in each car, but Halfords have them on special at £10 if you're quick.
As a SatNav it's very good, but you can ONLY mess with it via TomTom Home, it doesn't show up as a drive like the XXL did & it uses GPX "tracks" as GB said, but they don't have waypoints & I have yet to work out how to add stops.
But the worst thing of all is that I can't get it to show a picture of my car as the position icon

AH, that's interesting Duncan, i didnt use my TT for the run last weekend as it fell off,but it had been on all the way to the meet point - and like you, i noted that the time was wrong and wouldnt reset.
Will have to explore that in more detail in case my routes/waypoints dont work either.

Hmm, I also noticed my TT clock is set to 12am and doesn’t change, if I change it then it immediately changes back - although the route still worked ok!

Re: My Tomtom has lost the plot!
Ok, it seems I have been a bit silly.
I checked the Tomtom serial numbers on the page Graham linked to and they came up fine.
However, that page assumes you have installed the latest software update! i've been too tight to install any new maps on my Tomtoms ever! So they weren't up to date.
I've installed Tomtom Home and updated the software and they seem to be working now
I hope this helps someone else.
