Hi
I can see this query being either a) “never discussed, what are you talking about?” Or b) “discussed lots, see this thread” sort of question Apologies in advanced.
A couple of mates and I are looking to buy Baofeng two-way radios. They seem to use a Kenwood K1 2-pin headphone/mic jack.
Has anyone found a way of buying/creating a peltor or pilot type headphones with a boom mic for these radios? Any adaptors?
I have seen some stuff on Amazon, eBay etc that’s either fiercely expensive or looks really cheap and nasty.
It’s dead easy to do with Icom, Yaesu, Motorola etc but the radios are 3-4 times more expensive
Thanks.
Mike

I went the more complex route and connected to a Starcom Digital intercom. You then get intercom, radio, Bluetooth for music, satnav and hands-free calls. Open face helmet mike/speakers McGuyver-ed into Peltor ear defenders. Not cheap but works great.

I put up some photos of installing Starcom headsets into peltors, and photobucket now seems to let people see them again! Anyway, this might be of interest:

The starcom intercom is overkill for single drivers, but brilliant if you carry a passenger regularly.

Ah cheers! But what does “McGuyver-ed” mean?

I think it is a reference to the old TV program where he always saved the day with a swiss penknife and some ingenuity. I didn't watch it myself, more of an A team fan

Just googled it - I was one year old when it first aired
